NeuroCentrix Memory Clinic for Alzheimer’s Treatment
NeuroCentrix Memory offers a team of highly skilled clinicians to help you make informed choices about managing memory issues.
The first step in any treatment plan is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of your cognitive function.
We offer evidence-based assessment and advice that includes neuropsychological testing and assessment, consultations with our senior psychiatrists and referral for biomedical investigations including brain scans, if required.
NeuroCentrix provides both you and your treating physician with an assessment folder containing all your test results, a synthesis of these results by our neuropsychology team, an assessment from our psychiatrist, including a diagnosis if relevant, and a number of treatment options that may be available to you.
An assessment of your memory status including physical examination, full history and cognitive assessment, neuropsychology testing, physical and mental health assessment is provided during the initial 3-hour appointment.
A specialist doctor will meet with you to discuss your initial results and may send you for brain scans if required.
At your second appointment our psychiatrist will discuss your scan results and possible options to maximise cognitive function, prevent further decline and minimise the psychological and social effects of memory loss.
A number of treatment options are available for memory difficulties depending on the reason behind the memory loss. MRI’s and PET scans can often determine underlying pathology.
Depending on the cause, treatment options may include readily available medications, entering a research trial for disease specific treatment, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) or psychological therapy to adapt to changing cognitive function and to help manage any anxiety or depression.
Family and carers are considered in your assessment and individualised support can be arranged if required. Information on various local agencies and health and wellness information is included in your assessment folder.
